A motivated group of arts-minded individuals, some of whom were a part of the Downtown Beautification Committee of the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce, thought it would be nice to have a statue created to honor the heritage and culture of downtown Port Clinton, Ohio. Thanks to this monumental idea, the Port Clinton Arts Council was born.
Main Street Port Clinton and the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to help the Port Clinton Arts Council get its feet off the ground. The statue idea was pushed to the back burner to make way for something much more grand, and in 2007 the Ohio Arts Council stepped in to help Port Clinton organize and develop their Arts Council.
In 2008, the Port Clinton Arts Council expects to become fully functioning, with the ability to raise and administer funds, determine local arts needs and assist with developing and sponsoring events in the Port Clinton area. The Arts Council is drawing from a great community of artistic and arts-loving people who are helping with fund raising, grant writing, planning, motivating, promoting and doing the grunt work involved to bring the arts to life in this vibrant, picturesque community!
